Why read the report?

2022 has not been a great year for the Auto Industry in the UK with new car registrations falling by 20.6% in May 2022. In contrast, 2021 showed the promise of recovery with new car bookings increasing by 185.1% compared to Q2 2020. The positive spike, however, only lasted for that quarter, with poor sales for the rest of the year.

In this report we studied both Q1 and Q2 of 2021 to better understand the cause of the
spikes, using Azira’s exhaustive data on people and places, to answer key questions around:

  • Who and where were the visitors to showrooms coming from?
  • Whether new Electric Vehicle (EV) launches caused any spikes to visits
  • Consumer insights for buyers of luxury/EV/mid-range cars.
